For our client we are searching for a Data Protection Advisor
Must be residing in UK and have the right to work in UK.
About the role:
As a Senior Data Protection Advisor, you will be part of the Legal team responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, guidelines and procedures applicable to the business to ensure compliance with the UK GDPR and other relevant legislation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing accurate, relevant, timely and commercially focused data protection advice and support to colleagues across all business areas including effective collaboration to develop and support key business initiatives and opportunities
- Advising on a full range of data privacy matters, including regulatory compliance, data protection impact assessments, privacy notices, data subject requests, contracts (including DPAs and DSAs), GDPR compliance, data protection by design and international data flows
- Working in collaboration with other business areas such as Legal, HR, finance, governance, Information Security and Procurement on the development and implementation of policies and processes to drive efficiencies and costs savings whilst also mitigating risk and ensuring ongoing legal and regulatory compliance.
- Developing and implementing risk mitigation and recording solutions in collaboration with corporate services cross functional teams including Data Protection, Information Security, Quality and GI in collaboration with procurement and finance areas.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Expert knowledge and understanding of UK and European data privacy laws and data protection regulation and a good understanding of upcoming regulatory changes
- Demonstrable experience of team management and mentoring and motivating a high functioning team
- Proven experience of maintaining a high functioning risk management, control and governance function
- Experience of developing data protection processes and organisational policy recommendations
- Experience of building strong relationships and networks to embed data protection across group companies
Nice to have:
- Experience of working within a higher education setting is desirable
but not essential - Experience working in a regulated industry.
Qualifications:
- Hold data protection and/or privacy certifications, such as CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM,
ISEB - Law degree or post-graduate legal qualification
Salary
From £50,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
